The Club Today
A DYNAMIC GROUP OF WOMEN
The Fortnightly began in 1873 as a small literary club, 24 women interested in the rapidly changing world and the 19th century enthusiasm for self-improvement. Inquisitive and accomplished women have made the organization thrive for more than 150 years.
LEARNING AND FRIENDSHIP
Throughout the year, in person and through virtual technology, members enjoy a wide array of luncheon and dinner programs, teas, speakers, social events, special activities, and particular interest groups.luncheon and dinner programs, teas, speakers, social events, special activities, and particular interest groups.
AN OASIS
Since 1922, the Fortnightly has owned the stately landmarked Helen and Bryan Lathrop House at 120 East Bellevue Place in the Gold Coast of Chicago. The house is where we meet and enjoy the camaraderie of dynamic women seeking intellectual enrichment.
A WELCOMING HOME
The Fortnightly is a warm and charming venue where members may entertain large and small groups in beautifully appointed rooms. A permanent chef and gracious staff exceed expectations.
